About

All my life, I've been a nurturer. A college roommate gave me the nickname Mother Jess, in reflection of my mothering nature. I've always been looking for a simpler way, and a healthier life. Raised in the shadow of New York City, I moved further and further afield, until I found my perfect few acres of land, in Readfield, Maine.

I've been working with herbs for almost 20 years, making homegrown oils, tinctures and other preparations for myself, my family and my friends. I grow many of the herbs I work with here on my farm, including Calendula, St. John's Wort, Mint, Meadowsweet, Arnica, Echinacea, Valerian, Thyme, Oregano, Yarrow, Comfrey, and many more. I strive to use only the most natural ingredients in all my products - with names you can pronounce!

  1. Greetings Mother Jess, my name is Noah. My wife and I are looking to purchase a farm in the Readfield area. I've been gardening since I was about 5 years old. We live in Southern CA with the smog and hot dry heat. I looked over your products and will definitely be ordering some. Any thought you may have as a local who's knowledgeable of what to look for and avoid as a transplant from CA would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Noah

    1. Hi Noah - thanks for reaching out! Yay for moving to Maine - I'm always excited to have more farming friends in the area. Maine is a very different climate than CA, obviously, so there's lots to learn about growing here in the cold North. And as you're looking at potential homes, many will likely be old farmhouses, which come with their own beauty and issues.

If you want to talk more, you can reach out to mama_jess@hotmail.com I'd love to hear more about your plans!
